Description: Daria finds herself escaping danger at every turn. She just wants gainful employment as a tutor, but finds herself drawn into something very dangerous and evil. Her past seems to have caught up with her and she knows all to well just what evil looks like. Daria struggles between her intellect and her desire to really know the truth of the One True God. She has been called and quickly finds herself working for His purpose. She takes on a new employer, Lucas. His abrupt change in mood alerts Daria to trouble. Her curiosity and past experiences drive her to seek the truth and do whatever it takes to save her employer. The question remains, is he part of the evil overtaking the city or something much more complicated?

This is another historical fiction and part of the Seven Wonders of the World Series. In this book we journey back in time and are placed in Acts. Paul and Timothy are working in Ephesus with other believers, growing the church. Higley does a great job of weaving Daria’s story together with the work of Paul. I particularly enjoyed the time we have listening to Paul teach while at his tent-making job. Daria’s struggle for truth and seeking answers about strange going ons of Lucas, keep the reader engaged. I found myself thinking, “What is he up to?”

I enjoyed this book. It is similar to Isle of Shadows in the style of writing. I would recommend this book. It is perfect for reading by the pool, when travelling, etc. It is a quick and easy read. The best part of this book is that it is well written and the location is, of course, wonderful.
